Steve Winwood, who has spent his five decade plus career performing with groups such as Traffic, the Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith and most recently as a solo artist, will release a new live album in September.
Winwood Greatest Hits Live includes 23 tracks over 2 discs and features Winwood with his current band of Jose Neto (guitar), Richard Bailey (drums) Palu Booth (woodwinds/organ) and Edson “Cafe” Da Silva (percussion).
“After a while of collecting these things, I think there’s enough stuff here we can put it out, and it’s quite interesting,” Winwood tells Billboard. “I think it’s a bit more than just live versions of what’s on the [studio] records, you know?”
Next week he’ll kick off a European tour, followed by a North American west coast tour this fall and midwest in February.
