The Beatles have announced a new limited-edition box set of their biggest and best singles “faithfully reproduced” in the original 7-inch form on high-quality 180-gram vinyl.
The 46 tracks featured in The Singles Collection span the breadth of the band’s career, from their classic 1962 hits “Love Me Do”/”P.S. I Love You” — housed in its original U.S. sleeve — to 1970’s “Let It Be”/”You Know My Name (Look Up the Number).” Also included is an exclusive new double-A-side single of The Beatles Anthology tracks “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love.”
Each of the tracks has been newly remastered from the original multi-track master tapes and cut for vinyl at Abbey Road Studio. Meanwhile, the singles themselves are housed in reproductions of the original international picture sleeves as they first appeared in 23 different nations. For example, the artwork for “I Want To Hold Your Hand” is from the Chili market, while the “All You Need Is Love” sleeve is from West Germany and “Something” is from Israel. The collection also boasts a 40-page booklet with photos, ephemera, and detailed essays by Beatles historian Kevin Howlett.
