New Rolling Stones Greatest Hits Collection Includes Two Brand New Tracks!

The Rolling Stones have just announced the release of their upcoming greatest hits collection GRRR!, which will feature two brand new songs “Gloom and Doom” and “One Last Shot”, recorded during last month’s session in a Paris studio.  These new tracks mark the first time that the group has worked together in the studio since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

Due out on November 12th in the UK and November 13th in North America the new compilation will be available in five different formats including multiple 3-CD 50 track sets, a vinyl box set and a massive 4-CD 80 track collection – all with a selection of bonus items including photo books, 7″ vinyl, postcards and posters.

The band is also making use of the uView app to promote the new album.  Fans can download the app onto their mobile device and then use it to watch the new album art “come to life” on their website.

The Stones seem to have a lot going on these days with the new greatest hits collection, the rumors of four gigs this fall, two new films – Crossfire Hurricane and The Rolling Stones: Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965, as well as the release of a live album box set.

Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965 is a documentary that follows the band as they tour Ireland shortly after “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” hits the top of the charts.  The film includes footage from their first professionally-filmed live shows and will make its premiere at the New York Film Festival on September 29th (encore showing October 3rd).  A box set of the film will be released on November 6th.

Crossfire Hurricane, directed by Brett Morgan will be released to select cinemas across the UK in October and will premiere on HBO in US later in the year.  With footage dating all the way back to the band’s first road trips, this documentary follows the band from their humble beginnings as blues-obsessed teenagers in the early ’60s to the rock royalty we know today.

Finally, the Rolling Stones have recently announced that they will be releasing The Brussels Affair, a live Stones album from 1973 – the first ever physical release for the album.  The Brussels Affair came about after the Stones were banned from France – due to several run-ins with the law while they recorded the epic album Exile On Main St.  In order to appease French fans, the band organized a concert in neighbouring Belgium and chartered a train to transport their loyal followers from Paris to Brussels for the two now-legendary shows.
