Ron Wood Hints At Rolling Stones Warm-Up Shows

Earlier this month it was confirmed that the Rolling Stones would be performing four shows to commemorate their 50th anniversary as a band, but according to guitarist Ron Wood these may not be the only gigs on the horizon.

In an interview with NME, Wood mentioned that the world-renowned rock band is considering the possibility of playing a few small shows under a pseudonym, just to test things out.  “There’s going to be little club gigs that we’re gonna surprise ourselves to do as well.  We’ll bung a few in next week or the week after, so look out for any Cockroaches gigs or whatever!  I don’t know who we’ll be billed as, but we’ll turn up somewhere and put a few to the test.  Tiny, 200, 300 people kind of places.”

The Stones have been rehearsing in Paris to prepare for their upcoming shows and according to Wood “[the band is] making a concentrated effort of being there on time every day.  We start at three o’clock in the afternoon.  We go through to dinnertime.  We have one break and so far everything has been an operation, nose to the grindstone.  We wanna give 200 percent.”

They will play London’s O2 Arena on Nov. 25th and 29th and at Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on Dec. 13th and 15th.  According to reports, the London concerts sold out in a mere seven minutes last Friday, crashing the Ticketmaster website in the process.  General tickets for the New Jersey shows go on sale at 12pm EST this coming Friday – Oct. 26th.
