$800K Beatles-Signed Stage Backdrop From Ed Sullivan Show Fails to Sell

A piece of stage backdrop signed by the Beatles during their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 failed to sell at auction Saturday in New York City.

According to Heritage Auctions’ Noah Fleisher, the company will now try to privately broker the piece.

The signed 4-foot-by-2-foot plastic wall was expected to fetch between $800K and $1M US.

Other historic Beatles items that did sell include an autographed “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” poster for $59,375 and an autographed “Meet the Beatles!” LP for $56,250.
