Yesterday The Rolling Stones celebrated the 50 year anniversary of their first ever gig at London’s Marquee Jazz Club.
“It is quite amazing when you think about it,” Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “But it was so long ago. Some of us are still here, but it’s a very different group than the one that played 50 years ago.”
The photo to the left was taken by world famous photographer Rankin this past Wednesday at the iconic venue on London’s Oxford Street. The band also gathered last night for the launch of a new photo exhibition celebrating the band’s career, which runs at London’s Somerset House until August 27th. The Rolling Stones 50 (Hardvcover Edition) will be released October 30th and is available now for pre-order.
