Paul McCartney has made a habit of popping up in unexpected places recently. The former Beatle delighted a pub full of fans in Liverpool in a special edition of Carpool Karaoke this past June. And on Thursday he joined Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon for some elevator antics at 30 Rock in New York City.

“Today we’re going to surprise some people who think they’re going on a tour of 30 Rock. Then the elevator’s going to open on the wrong floor and that’s where we step in,” explains Fallon at the top of the clip.

The elevator segment was filmed and released on Facebook in advance of McCartney’s Thursday night appearance on the Tonight Show. McCartney is promoting the release of his new album, Egypt Station.
