Actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) will star as Thomas Newton in Lazarus when it opens up off-Broadway this coming winter. The production, co-written by David Bowie and playwright Enda Walsh (Once), is based on the 1963 sci-fi novel, The Man Who Fell to Earth. David Bowie appeared in the role of Newton himself in the 1976 cult classic film version, directed by Nicolas Roeg.The story follows an extraterrestrial who crash-lands on Earth seeking a water for his planet, which is suffering from sever drought.Lazarus features a number of new songs from Bowie, composed specifically for the show as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs.
