Styx revealed details of their new album this week and announced a summer tour that will see the band performing in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nevada and Texas.

Crash of the Crown is due out June 18th via the band’s label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe and available on clear vinyl, black vinyl, CD, and digital platforms. The release – recorded during the trying times of the pandemic – marks the band’s 17th studio album.

The album’s title track is available now on all digital platforms. The song features three lead vocalists – James “JY” Young, Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan. It’s the first in the Styx catalog to do so.

I’m always looking for the one different thing we can do and still have it be Styx,” Lawrence Gowan notes, “and that’s the song I’m most proud of. The beauty of it is that it’s the culmination of all our talents crammed together into one song, ABBEY ROAD-style. I also got to use some gear I never thought I’d have the chance to play on a Styx record like Tommy’s Hammond B3 organ, my Minimoog, and my Mellotron.”

Styx will kick off the summer at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre in Florida on June 16h. Beginning June 18th they’ll be joined by Collective Soul for eight additional shows across Georgia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

In September, Styx will return to Las Vegas for three nights at the Venetian with an exclusive set list and brand-new stage production.
