Blank on Blank: George Michael on Freedom

In the latest episode of PBS’ Blank on Blank, a 23-year-old George Michael talks about going solo, being the first Western pop act to perform in China, and his future as a solo artist.

“In ten years time I think I could be a very, very big star, as opposed to just a star. And although there is that half of me that wants it, there’s another half of me that’s very frightened of it as well,” says Michael in this archival interview from 1986.
