To commemorate World AIDS Day, a “surprise” concert will take place tonight in Times Square featuring U2, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Martin, Kanye West, and Carrie Underwood.
What’s even more surprising is that U2 will perform Bono-less and Bruce Springsteen and Chris Martin will take turns fronting the band, according to a statement on U2’s website.
Bono, who was recently injured in a bike accident, released the following statement today:
“13 million people have access to life-saving treatment, up from 300,000 just over 10 years ago. Americans don’t know the role they’ve played in this fight. Tonight’s event is to inform them and thank them.”
