When Kiss head back out on the road early next year they are taking David Lee Roth with them.
Roth, who hasn’t performed as a solo artist since 2006, will be joining the group on the next two North American legs of their epic End of the Road Tour. The recently announced tour dates will begin on February 1, 2020, in Manchester, NH and run through to March 15, 2020, in Biloxi, MS with a five-month hiatus until they pick up again on August 28, 2020, in Burgettstown, PA and wrap up on October 2, 2020, in Fort Worth, TX.
See below for a list of 2020 North American tour dates.
The news leaked yesterday and quickly spread over social media after searches on LiveNation’s official app revealed an End of the Road Tour graphic “with special guest” David Lee Roth. See radio host Mitch Lafon’s tweet below.
However, neither Kiss nor Roth confirmed the news until a press release today.
Though it may seem like a bit of an odd pairing, Roth and Kiss go way back. In 1976 Gene Simmons produced Van Halen’s demo tape after seeing the group perform at Gazzarri’s in West Hollywood. Kiss’ management at the time passed on signing the group.
The news that Roth is resuming his solo career appears to snuff out any faint hope that fans have that Van Halen might hit the road again. While he did not provide any specifics, Roth did recently declare that Van Halen was “finished” after a stadium tour planned for this past summer never materialized.
“That’s been canceled a number of times,” he said. “And I think Van Halen’s finished, and this [upcoming solo Las Vegas residency] is the next phase. I’ve inherited the band de facto — whatever that means. I think it means if you inherit it, carry this proudly. Van Halen isn’t gonna be coming back in the fashion that you know. And that being said, Eddie’s [Van Halen] got his own story to tell. Not mine to tell it.”
Prior to joining Kiss on tour, Roth will begin a residency at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, which will continue after wrapping up the U.S. leg of the Kiss tour.
