Eric Clapton will headline the July 8th British Summer Time show in London’s famed Hyde Park along with performances by Santana, Steve Winwood and Gary Clark Jr, it was announced this week. Additional performers will be announced soon.
“I have happy memories of performing in Hyde Park in the past,” said Clapton in a statement, “and I’m really looking forward to playing there again – the whole atmosphere is very special.”
Clapton and Winwood first played Hyde Park in 1969 as members of Blind Faith. The super group, which also consisted of Ginger Baker and Rick Grech, played to an audience of 120,000 in June of that year.
Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, December 1st at 9am local time.
