John Mellencamp Announces Intimate New Concert Film ‘Plain Spoken: From The Chicago Theatre’

Try to keep it as plain spoken as possible…” these are some of the first words the viewer hears from John Mellencamp in Plain Spoken: From The Chicago Theatre. Due out on May 11th from Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD+CD, Blu-ray+CD and digital formats, this new concert film gives fans a deeper look at the much loved artist.

Plain Spoken: From The Chicago Theatre steps outside the normal constraints of a concert film or documentary, blending personal voice-overs and live footage of Mellencamp performing with his full band at the historic Chicago Theatre. Throughout the film the singer-songwriter shares the story of his Midwest upbringing, the trials and triumphs of his career and his outlook on life, all to the soundtrack of his own music. The result is an unprecedented window into the sound and soul of John Mellencamp.

In addition to the full film with commentary, Plain Spoken: From The Chicago Theatre offers fans the option to experience the concert in its original form, without the voice-overs by selecting the “non-commentary” option in the main menu.

The set also includes a CD of concert audio which showcases some of Mellencamps most popular tunes, “Small Town,” “Cherry Bomb” and “Pink Houses” as well as songs from his most recent album Sad Clowns and Hillbillies.
