The city of Memphis is honoring legendary blues musician B.B. King by declaring Tuesday to be ‘B.B. King Day’ in the city.
Memphis residents are sending get-well cards, messages and videos to King, who is currently in hospice care in his Las Vegas home.
B.B. King was born in Mississippi but moved to Memphis in the 40s and got his start on Memphis’ iconic Beale Street. His nickname, B.B., came from the term “Beale Street Blues Boy.”
A giant get-well card currently hangs on the wall of B.B. King’s Blues Club on Beale for fans to sign.
