Peter Frampton Announces Final Tour, Reveals He Has Rare Muscle Disease

Peter Frampton Finale Farewell Tour

Peter Frampton has announced his final farewell tour. The legendary guitarist revealed in an interview on CBS This Morning that he will end his touring career due to being diagnosed with a degenerative and incurable muscular disease.

Frampton received his inclusion body myositis diagnosis three and half years ago but says he felt the effects speed up this past September or October. He tells This Morning host Anthony Mason he has been furiously recording music in his Nashville studio ever since.

“Between October and two days ago, we’ve done like 33 new tracks,” he says. “I just want to record as much as I can, you know, now, for obvious reasons.”

“What will happen, unfortunately, is that it affects the finger flexors,” Frampton explains. “That’s the first telltale sign is the flexors, you know. So for a guitar player, it’s not very good.”

While Frampton confesses he has already felt the effects in his fingers, he says he is still able to play – for now.

Peter Frampton Finale – The Farewell Tour will kick off June 18th in Tulsa and continue throughout the summer and fall. The tour will feature special guest Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening, as well as Julian Frampton on the west coast stops, with additional surprise guests to appear on select dates.

Tickets for the tour go on sale March 1st via Live Nation.

Peter Frampton remains one of the most lauded artists in rock history. Most recently, Frampton performed as part of “I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” concert as well as receiving the Les Paul Innovation Award at the 2019 NAMM Show’s 34th annual TEC Awards. He also just celebrated the 43rd anniversary of his fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, one of the top-selling live records of all time, with over 17 million copies sold worldwide.
