Sisters Spend 22 Years Trying to Discover Identity of U2 Soundalike

Remember the days of tape players, when you heard a song on the radio that you liked, popped in a blank tape, and pressed Record? C’mon… we all did it at some point.

Well, two sisters in Vancouver, Canada also did it, back in 1993, thinking they were hearing a new U2 song. But it turns out it wasn’t U2, and the women have spent 22 years trying to figure out the identity of the song and the band – asking friends, searching Google and even using the Shazam app.

Finally, Robyn and Erin Hanson turned to a CBC Radio show for help. The station posted the recording online and asked listeners to help identify the song.

“It sounds so uncannily like U2 that it drives everyone crazy… The more people listen to it the more people are determined to find out who it is,” Robyn Hanson told the host of On the Coast.

While the sisters spent over two decades trying to identify the song, the internet had an answer within hours.

CBC reports that the track is called “Ammunition” by the the band All Good Children, out of Ontario, Canada.

If you like what you hear, you might have to pull that tape recorder out of the attic, because the song isn’t available on iTunes.

Or, since it’s 2015, you can just stream it on YouTube, here.
