The Velvet Underground’s White Light/White Heat turns 45 this year and Universal Music plans to celebrate the milestone with a three-disc anniversary re-issue of the album.
Lou Reed and John Cale helped curate the anniversary version, which features remastered versions of the original record in mono and stereo, as well as bonus material such as alternate versions, new mixes and previously unreleased vocal and instrumental version. Fans will also be treated to a never-before-heard live set recorded at the Gymnasium in New York in April 1967.
“No one listened to it,” said Lou Reed of the album in a statement. “But there it is, forever the quintessence of articulate punk. And no one goes near it.”
White Light/White Heat will be available December 3rd.
