Tom Petty Releasing New Album

tom-petty-logoTom Petty and The Heartbreakers will release a new album this summer – Petty’s first studio record in four years.

Although a specific release date has not yet been set, work on the album is almost complete, reports Rolling Stone. Produced by Petty, Mike Campbell and Ryan Ulyate, Hypnotic Eye features 11 tracks and has the band returning to their 1960’s rock roots.

“I knew I wanted to do a rock n’ roll record,” Petty tells Rolling Stone in the new interview. “We hadn’t made a straight hard-rockin’ record, from beginning to end, in a long time.”

Also confirmed for this year are plans to re-issue Petty’s 1994 album Wildflowers as a Deluxe Edition. The release will feature ten additional songs and should be out by Christmas.
