UK Man Blames Pink Floyd Song for his Criminal Behavior

pink-floyd-wish-you-were-hereA man in the U.K. is blaming the music of Pink Floyd for landing him in jail after he became depressed and stole anti-depressants, the Westmorland Gazette reports.

Sam Simmonite says the Pink Floyd song “Wish You Were Here” was played at his father’s funeral and upon hearing it on the day of the incident, he became ‘extremely depressed’ and stole two boxes of pills from a pharmacy to help him feel better.

It’s hard to blame the legendary prog rock band for driving Simmonite to commit the crime though, since he has previous record for battery, failing to surrender, and burglary.

Simmonite plead guilty to the charge and was sentenced to 28 days in jail.

“Wish You Were Here” is the title track from Pink Floyd’s 1975 album of the same name. Find out where it ranks on our list of the Top Ten Pink Floyd Albums of all time.
