Bruce Springsteen helped honor Pete Townshend Thursday night at the 11th annual MusiCares MAP Fund benefit in New York, where Townshend received the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his dedication and support of the Fund and for his commitment to helping others recovering from addiction.
The Who’s longtime manager Bill Curbishley was also honored with the MusiCares From the Heart Award.
In addition to Springsteen’s personal and rather funny tribute, the evening featured appearances by Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Willie Nile.
