Whitesnake will no longer be hitting the road with the Scorpions for their US and Canadian tour beginning this month due to David Coverdale’s persisting health issues. Coverdale issued a statement on Whitesnake’s official website explaining that he is continuing to receive treatment for an upper respiratory infection that has affected his ability to perform.

“It is with profound disappointment and a heavy heart that I must announce that Whitesnake will no longer be able to join The Scorpions on their US and Canadian tour,” reads Coverdale’s statement.

Whitesnake was scheduled to provide support for the Scorpions’ Rock Believer tour beginning August 21 with dates through October 21. Whitesnake had a number of headlining dates scheduled as well, which have also been cancelled.

The Scorpions will continue with their scheduled tour dates as planned with opening act Thundermother.

Last month, Whitesnake ended their European Farewell tour early due to Coverdale’s health challenges.
