Rob Squad Reactions, the immensely popular YouTube reaction series, is set to unveil an exciting new dimension with the launch today of Rob Squad and the Creators. This innovative new show features artists reacting live both to their own work and to the reactors reacting, bringing a fresh and original perspective to the world of music reactions.

Launching today are three episodes, each featuring one song and artist. The first kicks off with a bang when Melissa Etheridge sits in with Rob Squad hosts Jay and Amber Robinson to listen and react to her 1995 rocker “I Want to Come Over”. King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox are next up, dissecting and reacting to King Crimson’s prog rock tour de force “Frame by Frame.” Today’s third episode is Peter Noone talking to the Rob Squad about Herman’s Hermit’s1965 hit “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.”

Rob Squad and the Creators (RSATC) offers viewers a unique experience as they witness artists, performers, and songwriters react in real time to their own songs alongside Jay and Amber. The eclectic lineup of artists includes Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Gos), Lisa Loeb, Taylor Dayne, Stuart Wood (Bay City Rollers), Mick Conroy and Robbie Grey (Modern English), Earl Young (The Trammps), The Zombies, Tom Higgenson (Plain White T’s), and Jesse Colin Young (Youngbloods).

Rock Artists Who Have Won an Academy Award

The guest stars clearly enjoy the experience as much as RSATC’s huge audience of viewers. Melissa Etheridge says, “It’s so much fun watching people discover music! I can’t tell you how much fun it’s been to watch it. Of course, I hold my breath and hope they like it!” Robert Fripp sums up his episode by saying, “I would say Amber and Jay, thank you for being you and doing what you do!” And Peter Noone tells Jay and Amber, “I like your show and I’m a fan and I hope millions of people find you!”

Jay and Amber Robinson, the dynamic couple behind Rob Squad Reactions, always thought their successful YouTube reaction show (332+ million views) had more potential, so they jumped at the chance when they were approached with a groundbreaking idea to enhance the format: Add the artists reacting to their reactions. Jay says, “Being music business outsiders keeps us fresh and real, but I have to say it’s thrilling to now have the connections to share our reactions with the folks who wrote and performed the songs. It’s next level, we’re psyched!”

RSATC delivers music fans the unique experience of virtually being in the same room listening to their favorite artists with their favorite artists, accompanied by superfans Jay and Amber, who ask all the questions music fans want to know: Who’s that woman in the video? Who played drums on that cut? How did you feel when you wrote that? What instrument was that? Who did you listen to growing up? And much, much more.

The program will release ten episodes a week, with new segments scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Fans can look forward to an immersive experience that brings them closer to their favorite artists and their music.

Some highlights from the upcoming RSATC series:

  • Robert Fripp talks about playing “about nine notes a second in the fast pass” of Frame By Frame. Also about the early years of King Crimson when Jimi Hendryx “came down to see us and he came up to me and said, ‘shake my left hand man. It’s closer to my heart.’”
  • Jane Wiedlin tells about The Go-Gos’ punk roots in Hollywood and how they were able to make their first video (Our Lips Are Sealed) thanks to “Miles Copeland who also happened to manage the Police…Well I guess they had $6,000 left out of one video budget. And that’s what we used to make that video.”
  • Melissa Etheridge says why she loves the reaction format, “I love people discovering music. It’s something I love about your generation, that you really dig deep and you find what you love and you follow that track. And it just gives me faith in music and music lovers.”
  • Peter Noone tells how Herman’s Hermits’ song No Milk Today “was like the first divorce song, and it was like ahead of its time. We had the song for a couple of years before we recorded it, the Holies had a go at it and nobody could figure it out. And then, as you’ll hear in the record, John Paul Jones, who was a local boy, just a kid in another band, came along. He was in Led Zeppelin. He wrote a string arrangement and then came to the session and played bass on it and turned it into…a miraculous recording session.”

Rob Squad and the Creators evolved from The Rob Squad Reactions Show and Channel on YouTube, which over the past three years has captivated a global audience based on the hosts’ genuine, heartfelt reactions to a wide range of music from various genres and eras. Rob Squad’s Jay and Amber Robinson are two young former schoolteachers/athletic coaches who met as freshmen at Northeastern Oklahoma State, married, and now have three children. Jay started the reaction channel dedicated to unearthing hidden gems and celebrating timeless classics.
