Another lawsuit has been filed as a result of the Midnight Rider train accident which killed one and injured seven others in February during filming.
This latest personal injury case has been filed by Antonyia Vera and seeks compensation for the makeup artist for physical injuries, post traumatic stress, physical pain, necessary expenses, mental anguish, and loss of income, The Wrap reports. It’s the third lawsuit to result from the accident which happened on location in Georgia while the Gregg Allman biopic was in its first days of filming.
The two other suits were filed by the parents of Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old camera assistant who was killed by the oncoming train, and by hairstylist Joyce Gillard. All three of the suits are seeking damagers from Gregg Allman, who was an executive producer on the film, as well as Open Road Films, Unclaimed Freight Productions, CSX Transportation, Meddin Studios and several individuals responsible for safety during filming.
As Classics Du Jour previously reported, the accident occurred when the film’s crew placed a bed on the train tracks which was subsequently struck by an oncoming train. According to the lawsuits filed, producers of the film never received permission to film on the trestle bridge where the accident occurred, but kept that information from the cast and crew on location.
Production of the film has been shut down as a result of the accident. Gregg Allman had already distanced himself from the film following the accident and asked director Randall Miller to shut down the film.
