Steely Dan Song Helps Light Up Empire State Building

Steely Dan’s “FM (No Static at All)” provided the soundtrack for a spectacular light show last week, as N.Y.C. celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Empire State Building’s Master FM antenna.

The 1978 Grammy-winning song was simulcast on New York’s WCBS so fans could listen during the live show.

Watch the full show, with sound, in the video below.

“FM (No Static at All)” was the title theme for the 1978 movie FM, which also featured music from Tom Petty, Bob Seger, and Queen, among others. Steely Dan released the song as a single later that year and it quickly became a Top 40 hit.
