Moonage Daydream, the first official David Bowie documentary sanctioned by the singer’s estate, is coming to theatres across the globe on September 16, 2022. News of the release was revealed on official David Bowie social accounts this week along with a first look at the poster for the film.

Moonage Daydream was written, directed, edited and produced by Brett Morgen, who also created the 2015 Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck.
The Bowie film touts itself as an “experiential cinematic odyssey that explores Bowie’s creative, spiritual, and philosophical journey”. It features never-before-seen footage from Bowie’s personal archives and is narrated exclusively by Bowie. Nearly 50 tracks are included in the film, primarily from Bowie’s 1970 to 1977 catalogue.
It was previously reported by Variety that the film will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in spring 2023.
