Duane Allman Celebrated with 7-Disc Box Set

duane-allman-skydogRounder Records will pay tribute to Duane Allman with the release of a comprehensive seven-disc box set on March 5th.  The set, titled Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective,  was curated and produced by Bill Levenson and Allman’s daughter, Galadrielle.

According to Rolling Stone magazine, the 129-song compilation features recordings from Allman’s days in the Allman Joys, the Escorts and the Hour Glass, sessions with Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Boz Scaggs, Clarence Carter and more, as well as selections from the Allman Brothers Band and his work with Derek and the Dominoes.

Duane Allman’s phenomenal career was cut short on October 29th, 1971 when he died in a motorcycle crash. He was 24.
