Following the release of his first new music in nearly a quarter of a century, Steve Perry offers another glimpse into his highly-anticipated album Traces with the brand new single “No More Cryin’”.

The music video, released Wednesday, pairs the track with footage of the former Journey singer and his band performing in studio. Watch it in the video player below.

“No More Cryin’ is a love song, but not in the way you would think,” said Perry in a statement. “It starts in one place, and builds and lands somewhere entirely different. It’s got many overtones, and can be applied to so many different kinds of relationships, including my own relationship with past isolation.”

Traces was produced by Perry alongside co-producer Thom Flowers, and features 10 tracks that balance Perry’s personal story of love and loss with hope and beauty. It features nine original tracks plus beautifully reimagined cover of The Beatles’ “I Need You”. Click here for the full track listing.

Traces is due out October 5th and will mark the former Journey frontman’s first solo release since 1994’s For The Love Of Strange Medicine.

“The truth is, that I thought music had run its course in my heart,” Perry explains of his absence. “I’d had an amazing time in an amazing band, and then the chance to express myself as a solo artist too. But I had to be honest with myself, and in my heart, I knew I just wasn’t feeling it anymore.”

“For a long time, I could barely even listen to music,” he continues. “My last show with Journey was in February of 1987. Then one day, it hit me that I couldn’t do this anymore. I felt as if I had to jump off this merry-go-round — this big beautiful mothership that we had all worked so hard together to build.”

Traces is available now for pre-order on CD, digital download and 180-gram vinyl.
