J. Geils Band Touring… Without J. Geils

Boston’s J. Geils Band has announced they will be reuniting to hit the road this summer with original members Peter Wolf (vocals), Seth Justman (keyboards), Danny Klein (bass) and Magic Dick (harmonica). But missing from the lineup is the band’s namesake, J. Geils himself.

A PR Company statement addressed the absence, saying “Guitarist John Geils will not be joining this tour due to an ongoing legal dispute between The J. Geils Band and John Geils’ solo record label, Francesca Records. The band is challenging Francesca Records’ baseless claim to ownership and control of the rights to the name ‘J. Geils Band.’ Unfortunately, John Geils’ decision to align with Francesca Records has hindered a working relationship with The J. Geils Band.”

Guitarist Duke Levine will be joining the lineup for this tour along with drummer Tom Arey.
