The film, titled Bachman, was written and directed by John Barnard (The Sheeepdogs Have At It, Menorca). It follows Bachman’s life from his childhood in Winnipeg, Canada to his touring career today at the age of 75. The film features interviews with Neil Young, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Peter Frampton and Fred Turner, among others.
“I hear Randy…when I see him, I hear him,” says Young in a trailer for the documentary, “And I feel him.”
Randy Bachman is one of the few legendary artists to have two #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 with two separate bands. “American Woman” was recorded by The Guess Who and reached the top of the chart in 1970. The Bachman-penned “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” recorded by Bachman Turner Overdrive, scored #1 status less than five years later.
