New Jim Morrison Book Due Out in June

Collection includes previously unpublished material including lyrics and last writings from the Doors frontman

Jim Morrison Collected Works book cover

A new book featuring the writings of Doors frontman Jim Morrison is due for release on June 8th via Harper Collins Publishers. The Collected Works of Jim Morison: Poetry, Journals, Transcripts and Lyrics was born out of a list, written by Morrison at some point before his untimely death, which he had titled “Plan for Book”.

At 600 pages, nearly half the collection consists of previously unpublished material including personal notes from his 1970 trial in Miami (in which he was found guilty of indecent exposure and open profanity), and the contents of a Paris notebook, believed to be Morrison’s last writings prior to his death.

The Collected Works of Jim Morison: Poetry, Journals, Transcripts and Lyrics was put together with the co-operation of the Jim Morrison estate. Morrison’s sister, Anne Morrison Chewning contributed the prologue.

The book is available now for pre-order.

Jim Morrison died on July 3, 1971 in Paris, France at the age of 27. Officially his death was ruled a result of heart failure and believed to have been caused by an accidental heroin overdose. The fact that no autopsy was performed (it was not required by French law) has lead to conspiracy theories surrounding his death.
