The City of Memphis has filed an application to re-name a section of one of the city’s downtown streets for the late B.B. King.

Upon approval of the application, a section of Third Street will become “B.B. King Boulevard”.

The renaming will required that street signs at 35 intersections be changed.

Blues legend B.B. King died May 14th at his home in Las Vegas, NV. King was born in Mississippi but got his start on Memphis’ historic Beale Street.
